Ingredients

1 pound ground turkey

1 cup fresh spinach, finely chopped

1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled

1/4 cup whole wheat breadcrumbs

1/4 small red onion, very finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 large egg

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

Salt and pepper, to taste

4 whole wheat burger buns

Fresh arugula or crisp lettuce for serving

Sliced tomatoes and cucumbers for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, add the ground turkey, finely chopped spinach, crumbled feta, whole wheat breadcrumbs, chopped red onion, minced garlic, egg, oregano, lemon juice, and a generous pinch of salt and pepper. Using your hands or a spatula, mix the ingredients gently until everything is just combined—avoid overmixing to ensure juicy burgers.

Form the Patties: Divide the turkey mixture into four equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty, approximately ¾ inch thick. To prevent the patties from puffing up during cooking, use your thumb to create a small indentation in the center of each patty.

Heat the Grill or Pan: If grilling, preheat your grill to medium-high heat. For stovetop cooking, heat a non-stick skillet or grill pan over medium heat. Lightly grease the surface with a splash of olive oil to prevent sticking.

Cook the Burgers: Carefully place the patties on the grill or in the pan. Cook for about 5-6 minutes on the first side without moving them. Flip the patties and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes, or until they are cooked through and reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

Prepare the Buns: While the burgers are cooking, toast the whole wheat buns on the grill or in a toaster until they are golden brown and slightly crispy.

Assemble the Burgers: Once the patties are cooked, transfer them to the toasted buns. Add a generous layer of fresh arugula or crisp lettuce on top of each patty, followed by slices of juicy tomatoes and refreshing cucumbers.

Serve and Enjoy: Plate your Spinach Feta Turkey Burgers with your choice of sides, such as baked sweet potato fries or a vibrant mixed salad. Dig in and savor the delicious flavors!
