Ingredients

2 salmon fillets (approximately 6 ounces each)

1/4 cup teriyaki sauce

1 tablespoon olive oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

2 cups fresh broccoli florets

Salt and pepper, to taste

Sesame seeds, for garnish

Chopped green onions, for garnish

Instructions

Marinate the Salmon: In a small bowl, whisk together the teriyaki sauce, minced garlic, and grated ginger until well combined. Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish and evenly pour the marinade over them, ensuring they are fully coated. Cover the dish and let the salmon marinate for at least 10 minutes to absorb the flavors while you prepare the broccoli.

Prepare the Broccoli: In a medium saucepan, add about an inch of water and position a steamer basket above it. Bring the water to a rolling boil. Once boiling, add the broccoli florets to the steamer basket, cover with a lid, and steam for 5-6 minutes. The broccoli should be vibrant green and tender-crisp. After steaming, remove it from heat and season with a pinch of salt and pepper to taste.

Cook the Salmon: In a large non-stick skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is shimmering, carefully place the marinated salmon fillets in the skillet, skin-side down. Cook for approximately 4-5 minutes until the skin becomes golden and crispy. Gently flip the salmon using a spatula, and continue cooking for an additional 3-4 minutes, basting with more teriyaki sauce from the skillet. The salmon is ready when it’s opaque and flakes easily with a fork.

Plate and Serve: To serve, arrange a salmon fillet on each plate alongside a portion of the steamed broccoli. Drizzle any remaining teriyaki sauce from the skillet over the salmon for added flavor. Finish by garnishing each dish with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and chopped green onions for a fresh touch.
