Ingredients

1 lb (450g) beef sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain

4 cups fresh broccoli florets

2 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

1/4 cup soy sauce (divided)

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1/4 cup beef broth (or water)

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon sugar

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Cooked white or brown rice, for serving

Sesame seeds and sliced green onions, for garnish

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a medium bowl, combine the thinly sliced beef with 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, and the sugar. Mix well until the beef is evenly coated. Allow it to marinate at room temperature for about 10 minutes while you prepare the other ingredients.

Prepare the Broccoli: Fill a pot with water, add a generous pinch of salt, and bring it to a rolling boil. Carefully add the broccoli florets and blanch them for about 1-2 minutes, just until they turn vibrant green and begin to soften. Drain the broccoli in a colander and set it aside to cool.

Make the Stir-Fry Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining 3 tablespoons of soy sauce, oyster sauce, beef broth, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir until fully combined and set aside for later use.

Stir-Fry the Beef: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over high heat until it shimmers. Add the marinated beef in a single layer; you may need to do this in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until the beef is nicely browned. Remove the beef from the pan and set it aside on a plate.

Cook the Aromatics: In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Once the oil is hot, add the minced garlic and grated ginger. Sauté for about 30 seconds, stirring frequently until fragrant but not burnt.

Combine Ingredients: Return the cooked beef to the pan, followed by the blanched broccoli. Pour the prepared stir-fry sauce over the beef and broccoli. Toss all ingredients together, and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and everything is heated through.

Serve: Remove the stir-fry from heat and serve it over bowls of cooked rice. For a delightful finish, garnish with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and sliced green onions.

                  - Presentation Tips: For an attractive presentation, serve the stir-fry in shallow bowls with a lime wedge on the side for a pop of color.
