Ingredients

1 lb (450g) ground beef

2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)

1 cup long-grain white rice

3 cups beef broth

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 medium onion, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

½ teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)

2 tablespoons olive oil

Optional: chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

Sauté the Onions: In a large skillet or pan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the diced onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes, or until softened and translucent.

Add Garlic and Beef: Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute, allowing the fragrant aroma to develop. Then, add the ground beef to the pan. Use a spatula to break the meat into small pieces while cooking. Brown the beef for about 5-7 minutes, until fully cooked through. Drain any excess fat from the pan.

Seasoning the Beef: Sprinkle in the smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt. Mix thoroughly to ensure the seasoning evenly coats the beef.

Add Rice and Broth: Pour in the long-grain white rice and the beef broth, stirring to combine all ingredients. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.

Add Broccoli: Once the mixture is simmering, carefully place the broccoli florets on top of the rice without stirring. Cover the pan with a lid, reduce the heat to low, and cook for about 15-20 minutes, or until the rice has absorbed all the liquid and is tender.

Melt the Cheese: After the cooking time, remove the lid and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top. Cover the pan again and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, just until the cheese is completely melted.

Serving: Once the cheese has melted, gently stir the mixture to combine all ingredients. Serve hot, garnished with chopped parsley for a fresh touch if desired.
