Ingredients

1 pound ground chicken

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon taco seasoning

1/2 cup salsa

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

2 tubes (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent roll dough

1 cup diced tomatoes (fresh or canned)

1/2 cup sliced black olives (optional)

1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

Sour cream, for serving

Sliced jalapeños, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it’s hot and ready for baking.

Cook the Chicken: In a large skillet set over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Once the oil shimmers, add the finely chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté for approximately 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onions become soft and translucent.

Season the Meat: Introduce the ground chicken to the skillet, using a spatula to break it apart. Cook for 6-8 minutes until the chicken is no longer pink and fully cooked. Stir in the taco seasoning and salsa, ensuring everything is well combined. Allow the mixture to simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes, letting the flavors meld beautifully.

Add Cheese: After removing the skillet from the heat, stir in the shredded cheddar cheese. Mix until the cheese is melted and evenly incorporated into the chicken mixture.

Prepare the Crescent Dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough tubes and separate the dough into individual triangles on a clean work surface.

Assemble the Rings: On a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet, arrange the crescent triangles in a circular pattern, overlapping the wide ends to form a ring. Make sure to leave a small gap in the center to facilitate even cooking.

Fill the Ring: Using a spoon, carefully layer the chicken mixture evenly over the crescent dough ring. Ensure to leave space around the edges. If you like, sprinkle some extra cheese on top of the mixture for more flavor.

Fold and Seal: Begin at the top of the ring and gently fold each triangle over the filling, tucking the pointed ends beneath the ring to create a sealed circular shape.

Bake: Transfer the baking sheet to your preheated oven and bake for 18-22 minutes, or until the crescent dough is golden brown and puffed.

Garnish & Serve: Once baked, remove the savory taco ring from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Top with fresh diced tomatoes, black olives, and chopped cilantro for an appetizing finish. Serve warm accompanied by a side of creamy sour cream and garnished with sliced jalapeños if desired.
