Ingredients

1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese

½ cup cream cheese, softened to room temperature

1 large egg

1 ½ cups almond flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

½ teaspoon salt

½ cup marinara sauce (for dipping)

Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)

Dried oregano, for sprinkling on top (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 425°F (220°C). While the oven is heating up, line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.

Melt the Cheeses: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the shredded mozzarella and softened cream cheese. Heat the mixture in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval, until the cheeses are fully melted and well blended (this should take approximately 1 to 2 minutes total).

Prepare the Dough: In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the almond flour, baking powder, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and salt until evenly combined.

Combine Ingredients: Once the cheese mixture has cooled enough to handle, crack the egg into the bowl and stir until the egg is fully incorporated. Gradually mix in the dry ingredient mixture, stirring until a cohesive dough forms.

Shape the Breadsticks: Place the dough onto the prepared baking sheet. Using your hands, flatten the dough into a rectangle approximately ¼ inch thick. Take a knife or pizza cutter and score the dough into individual breadstick shapes, being careful not to cut all the way through.

Add Toppings: If you desire additional flavor, sprinkle dried oregano over the top of the dough before baking.

Bake: Transfer the baking sheet to the preheated oven and bake the breadsticks for 12 to 15 minutes, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.

Serve: Once baked, allow the breadsticks to cool for a few minutes before slicing all the way through the scored lines. Serve them warm alongside marinara sauce for dipping, and garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired for a pop of color and flavor.
