Ingredients

  • 1.0 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1.0 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter
  • 1.0 large egg
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar for coating
  • 1.0 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.0 unit cooking spray or oil for greasing

Instructions

  • Prepare the Dough: In a medium saucepan, combine the water, butter, granulated sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Once boiling, add the flour and baking powder all at once, stirring vigorously until a dough forms and pulls away from the sides of the pan. Remove from heat and let it cool for about 5 minutes.
  • Add Egg and Vanilla: Once cooled slightly, stir in the egg and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  • Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 350 for about 5 minutes.
  • Prepare for Frying: Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Using a piping bag fitted with a large star tip, pipe the dough into 6-inch sticks onto the tray. Space them out to allow for expansion during cooking.
  • Air Fry the Churro Sticks: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place the churro sticks in a single layer; you may need to cook them in batches depending on the size of your air fryer. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  • Coat in Cinnamon Sugar: While the churros are cooking, mix the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon in a shallow dish. Once the churro sticks are done, immediately roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat them evenly.
  • Serve and Enjoy: Let the churro sticks cool slightly, then serve them warm with chocolate sauce, dulce de leche, or your favorite dipping sauce!

Notes
