Ingredients

1 block (14 oz) firm tofu, pressed and drained

3 tablespoons honey

2 tablespoons Sriracha sauce (adjust to your spice preference)

1 tablespoon soy sauce or tamari (for a gluten-free option)

1 tablespoon sesame oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for grilling)

Optional: sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Tofu:

    - Begin by pressing the tofu to extract any excess moisture. Wrap the block of tofu in a clean kitchen towel, and then place a heavy object, such as a cast iron skillet, on top. Let it sit for 15 to 30 minutes to achieve the right texture.

      Make the Marinade:

        - In a medium bowl, combine the honey, Sriracha sauce, soy sauce (or tamari), sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and rice vinegar. Whisk the ingredients together until they are thoroughly blended.

          Cut the Tofu:

            - Once your tofu has been pressed and excess moisture has been removed, cut it into thick slices (approximately 1-inch each) or into cubes, depending on your presentation choice.

              Marinate:

                - Place the tofu pieces in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them, ensuring each piece is well coated. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, though marinating for 1 to 2 hours will enhance the flavor even more.

                  Coat with Cornstarch:

                    - After marinating, retrieve the tofu from the refrigerator. Sprinkle the cornstarch over the tofu pieces and gently toss to ensure each piece is evenly coated. This step will help create a crunchy texture when grilled.

                      Preheat the Grill:

                        - Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Lightly brush the grill surface with vegetable oil to minimize sticking.

                          Grill the Tofu:

                            - Place the marinated tofu on the preheated grill. Cook for about 4 to 5 minutes on one side, or until grill marks form. Carefully flip the tofu and grill for an additional 4 to 5 minutes on the other side, basting with any remaining marinade during the last few minutes for added flavor.

                              Serve:

                                - Once the tofu is crispy and has a golden-brown appearance, remove it from the grill. If desired, garnish with slices of green onion and a sprinkle of sesame seeds. Serve the grilled tofu hot, accompanied by steamed rice or a side of grilled vegetables for a delightful meal.
