Ingredients

Pizza Dough:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast

¾ cup warm water (about 110°F)

1 tsp sugar

1 tsp salt

1 tbsp olive oil

Sauce:

½ cup marinara sauce

1 tsp dried oregano

½ tsp garlic powder

¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Toppings:

100g sliced salami

100g sliced prosciutto

100g sliced chorizo

100g smoked gouda cheese, shredded

100g mozzarella cheese, shredded

½ cup olives (green or black), pitted and sliced

¼ cup pickled jalapeños (optional)

Fresh arugula for garnish

A drizzle of balsamic glaze for serving

Instructions

Prepare the Dough:

    - In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water. Sprinkle the yeast over the water and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, until it becomes frothy. This indicates that the yeast is activated.

      - In a separate mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture alongside the olive oil. Mix until combined to form a shaggy dough.

        - On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic. Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.

          Prepare the Sauce:

            - In a bowl, combine the marinara sauce with oregano, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes. Stir well and taste, adjusting the seasoning as needed for your preference.

              Preheat Oven:

                - Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up. If not, line a baking sheet with parchment paper for an easy transfer.

                  Shape the Pizza:

                    - Once the dough has risen, gently punch it down to release the air. Transfer it to a floured surface and roll it out into a 12-inch circle or rectangle, about ¼ inch thick.

                      - Carefully transfer the rolled-out dough onto a floured pizza peel or your prepared baking sheet.

                        Assemble the Pizza:

                          - Spread the prepared sauce evenly over the surface of the dough, leaving a small border for the crust.

                            - Layer the shredded mozzarella and smoked gouda cheeses on top, followed by the slices of salami, prosciutto, chorizo, olives, and if desired, the pickled jalapeños.

                              Bake the Pizza:

                                - Gently slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone (or place your baking sheet directly in the oven). Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbling.

                                  Finish and Serve:

                                    - Once the pizza is baked, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a couple of minutes. Top with a handful of fresh arugula and a drizzle of balsamic glaze for extra flavor and visual appeal.

                                      - Slice the pizza into wedges and serve hot!
