Ingredients

1 block firm tofu, pressed and cubed

4 tablespoons cornstarch

3 tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying)

4 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

2 cups cooked brown rice or quinoa

1 cup steamed broccoli florets

1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced

1 carrot, julienned

2 green onions, thinly sliced

Sesame seeds, for garnish

Fresh cilantro, for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Tofu: Begin by pressing the block of firm tofu for at least 30 minutes to eliminate excess moisture, which will help in achieving the perfect crispy texture. After pressing, cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes.

Coat the Tofu: In a spacious bowl, add the cubed tofu and sprinkle the cornstarch on top. Gently toss the tofu until all pieces are evenly coated with cornstarch, ensuring a crispy exterior during frying.

Fry the Tofu: Heat the vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot (but not smoking), arrange the tofu cubes in a single layer in the skillet. Fry the tofu for approximately 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until all sides are golden brown and crispy. Once done, transfer the tofu to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.

Make the Garlic Sauce: In the same skillet, reduce the heat slightly if needed, and add the minced garlic. Sauté for about 30 seconds, stirring frequently to prevent burning, until the garlic becomes fragrant.

Combine Ingredients: Immediately stir in the soy sauce, sesame oil, and rice vinegar into the skillet with the garlic. Mix well to create a flavorful sauce. Add the crispy tofu back into the skillet and gently toss until all the tofu pieces are well-coated in the sauce.

Assemble the Bowl: In serving bowls, place a generous scoop of cooked brown rice or quinoa as the base. On top of the grain, arrange the crispy garlic tofu, steamed broccoli florets, fresh slices of red bell pepper, and julienned carrot to create a vibrant and colorful dish.

Garnish: Finish by sprinkling sliced green onions, sesame seeds, and freshly chopped cilantro over the top, adding both flavor and a pop of color for a beautiful presentation.

Serve: Serve your warm and delicious Crispy Garlic Tofu Bowls immediately, and enjoy a wholesome meal packed with flavor!
