Ingredients

1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided

3 tablespoons olive oil, divided

5 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped

1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice

Zest of 1 lemon

Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

Preparation: Begin by patting the shrimp dry with paper towels to absorb any excess moisture. This will help achieve a crispy exterior. Season the shrimp generously with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika for flavor.

Garlic Butter Sauce: In a large skillet, combine 2 tablespoons of butter and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Heat over medium heat until the butter is completely melted. Then, add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes to the skillet. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the garlic becomes fragrant and starts to soften, taking care not to let it brown, as this can impart bitterness.

Cooking the Shrimp: Increase the heat to medium-high. Add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet, ensuring they are in a single layer without overcrowding. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on one side until the shrimp turn pink and develop a slight golden crust. Carefully flip each shrimp and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes on the other side until fully cooked through.

Finishing Touches: Once the shrimp are fully cooked, lower the heat back to medium. Introduce the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter, the chopped parsley, lemon juice, and lemon zest to the skillet. Gently toss the shrimp in the sauce until they are well-coated and everything is heated through, about 1 minute.

Serve: Carefully transfer the crispy garlic butter shrimp to a serving dish. Use a spoon to drizzle any remaining sauce from the skillet over the shrimp for added flavor. Garnish with extra parsley if desired, and serve immediately alongside lemon wedges for a refreshing burst of citrus.
