1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed

1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice

1 garlic clove, finely minced

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

4 slices of your favorite bread (sourdough or whole grain recommended)

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped (for garnish)

Red pepper flakes (optional, for added heat)

Prep the Chickpeas: In a medium mixing bowl, use a fork or potato masher to mash the drained chickpeas. Aim for a chunky consistency, ensuring some whole chickpeas are left intact for added texture.

    Combine the Ingredients: To the mashed chickpeas, add the extra virgin olive oil, freshly squeezed lemon juice, minced garlic, smoked paprika, and a pinch of sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper.
