Ingredients

1 French baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch rounds

1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and thinly sliced

2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar

1 tablespoon honey

1 tablespoon fresh basil, finely chopped

4 ounces goat cheese, softened to room temperature

Olive oil, for brushing

Pinch of salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Optional: Fresh basil leaves for an elegant garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Baguette: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the slices of baguette in a single layer on a baking sheet. Lightly brush both sides of each slice with olive oil for a rich flavor and crispiness.

Toast the Crostini: Bake the baguette slices in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and crispy. Keep a close eye on them during baking to prevent burning.

Marinate the Strawberries: In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the sliced strawberries, balsamic vinegar, honey, finely chopped basil, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Gently toss the ingredients to ensure the strawberries are well-coated in the marinade. Allow the mixture to sit for about 10 minutes, letting the flavors meld beautifully.

Assemble the Crostini: Once the baguette slices are out of the oven and have cooled slightly, spread a generous layer of softened goat cheese on each slice, creating a creamy base.

Top with Strawberries: Using a spoon, place a portion of the marinated strawberry mixture atop the goat cheese on each crostini. To enhance the flavor, drizzle a little of the balsamic marinade over the strawberries.

Garnish and Serve: If desired, add a fresh basil leaf on top of each crostini for a pop of color and additional flavor. Arrange the crostini artfully on a serving platter and serve immediately to enjoy the vibrant combination of textures and tastes!
