Ingredients

1 pre-made 9-inch pie crust (store-bought or homemade)

2 cups fresh broccoli florets, chopped into small pieces

1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, freshly shredded

4 large eggs

1 cup whole milk

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon onion powder

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a kick)

Fresh parsley, finely chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it's hot when you’re ready to bake the quiche.

Blanch the Broccoli: In a small pot, bring a few cups of water to a boil. Once boiling, add the chopped broccoli florets and blanch them for about 2-3 minutes until they turn bright green and are slightly tender. Immediately drain the broccoli and plunge it into a bowl of icy cold water to halt the cooking process. Drain again and set aside.

Prepare the Pie Crust: Take your pre-made pie crust and gently place it into a 9-inch pie dish. Use a fork to prick the bottom of the crust a few times - this will help prevent it from puffing up while baking.

Whisk the Eggs Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, crack the eggs and add the whole milk. Season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and red pepper flakes (if using). Whisk together thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined and slightly frothy.

Incorporate the Filling: Carefully fold the blanched broccoli and the freshly shredded cheddar cheese into the egg mixture, ensuring even distribution.

Fill the Crust: Pour the broccoli and cheese filling into the prepared pie crust. Use a spatula to gently spread the mixture out evenly.

Bake the Quiche: Place the quiche in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes. Keep an eye out for the edges to turn a beautiful golden brown and for the filling to be set. You can test the doneness by inserting a knife into the center – it should come out clean.

Cool and Garnish: Once baked, remove the quiche from the oven and allow it to cool for about 5 minutes. This will help the filling set further. Before serving, sprinkle freshly chopped parsley over the top for a pop of color.

Serve: Slice the quiche into wedges and serve warm or at room temperature. It pairs beautifully with a simple side salad or your favorite dipping sauce for an extra treat.
